Before you can pay
Identity verification
To make payments through the tenant portal, your identity has to be verified once. Bring a photo ID, your Social Security card, and three months of bank statements to the salon, or email them to billing@lalasbeautyandnails.com. When everything is confirmed, we email you your portal link.

Why we verify
What is identity verification and who has to do it?
Every tenant of Lala's Beauty and Nails LLC completes a one-time identity check before their rent portal account is activated. It applies to all new tenants and to existing tenants moving onto the portal for the first time. Until it's complete you can't sign in, link a bank account, or make payments.
Why is this required?
Three reasons. First, rent is collected by ACH bank debit under a written lease, and ACH network (Nacha) rules require us to know who is authorizing the debits and to be able to prove it if a bank ever asks. Second, it prevents fraud: nobody can attach a bank account to your booth or run payments in your name without matching documents. Third, our payment processor expects us to verify the customers we bill on a recurring basis.
It also protects you. A verified account means the person paying, the person on the lease, and the person on the bank account are all confirmed to be the same, which is exactly what you want if a payment is ever questioned.
Is this the same as a credit check?
No. We don't pull your credit and nothing about this appears on a credit report. We're confirming who you are and that the bank account you'll pay from is yours and active.
What to bring
Which documents do I need?
All three of the following:
- Government photo ID — one of: a valid driver's license, a state-issued ID card, or a passport. It must be current (not expired) and the name must match your lease.
- Social Security card — the physical card, or a clear photo of the front.
- Bank statements — your three most recent monthly statements for the checking or savings account you will pay rent from. Statements must show your name, the bank's name, and the account number (last four digits are enough if your bank offers a redacted download).
What if my name on the bank account doesn't match my ID?
Bring documentation of the name change (marriage certificate, court order) or use a bank account in your legal name. If the account is jointly held, the statement must show your name as one of the holders. We can't accept an account held only by someone else, even a family member, because they would need to be the one authorizing the debits.
I just opened a new bank account and don't have three statements yet.
Bring what you have plus a letter from the bank confirming the account is open and in your name (most banks print this at a branch or in online banking under "account verification letter"). We'll note the account age on file and you can send the remaining statements as they arrive.
Can I use a passport card, military ID, or tribal ID?
Yes. Any current government-issued photo ID with your name and date of birth is accepted. School IDs, work badges, and expired documents are not.
How to submit
Option 1 — In person (recommended)
Bring the originals to the front desk at [Street Address], [City] during salon hours (Tuesday – Saturday, 9:00 AM – 7:00 PM (Pacific)). We review them on the spot, make copies for our file, and hand the originals straight back. This is the fastest route and the most secure, since nothing travels over email.
Option 2 — Email
Email clear photos or PDF scans of all documents to billing@lalasbeautyandnails.com from the same email address that's on your lease. Put your full name and booth number in the subject line.
Tips for a clean submission: use good lighting, get all four corners of each document in frame, and make sure text is readable. Blurry or cropped images are the number one reason we have to ask again. If your email provider offers it, send as an encrypted or password-protected attachment and text us the password separately.
How long does it take?
In person: same day, while you wait. By email: usually within one business day, occasionally two if we need to ask for a clearer copy. You'll get a confirmation email when everything is accepted.
What happens after I'm verified?
We activate your account and email you a portal invite link to the address on your lease. Click it, and you're signed in. From there you can set a password on your Account page, link your bank through Stripe, and pay your first rent charge or turn on autopay. See the FAQ for what to do next.
What if something doesn't check out?
We'll contact you and tell you exactly what's missing or unclear (an expired ID, a statement that doesn't show your name, and so on) so you can fix it. Verification is never declined silently. If we can't verify you at all, portal access isn't granted and your lease terms for alternative payment apply.
How your documents are handled
Where are my documents stored?
Copies are kept in a locked file and in an access-controlled digital folder available only to salon ownership. They are not uploaded to this website, to Stripe, or to any third party, and they are never stored in the tenant portal database. Your Social Security number is used only to confirm the card matches your ID; it is not entered into any system.
How long do you keep them?
ID and Social Security card copies are destroyed within 30 days of verification. Bank statements are kept for the life of your lease plus 90 days, then destroyed, unless a payment dispute or legal request requires us to keep them longer. You can ask us to confirm destruction in writing.
Will you ever ask me for these documents again?
Only if your bank account changes and the new account's statement is needed, if your ID expires and a bank requests proof of authorization, or if you sign a new lease after a gap. We will never ask for documents by text message or through a link in an unexpected email. If you get a request like that, call the salon directly before sending anything.
Where can I read your full privacy practices?
In the Privacy Policy, which covers verification documents alongside everything else we collect.
